john tilly put it together,& i really don't care if people don't like it!!!
its a unique song no other club can sing it & we're not going to stop singing it,so the people that don't like it are just going to have get used to it,it's not going anywhere!!!!
this is the first time i'v heard that supporters have been told to stop singing it,if it's true it's bang out of order, some way of trying to get more support at the club by telling people to stop singing, that really helps that dose!!!!

fact it was be in sang in the bar .and commitee men so called skem united supporters ,had a moan about not like in the song. Not sure if it was there opinion or some one elses, like sheep followin the shepard as normal.then call him behind his back. "Great vocal support last night, and it really helps spur the lads on that's for sure. I must admit I hate the song 'Land of Roundabouts." enough said eh.

Hate 'Land of Roundabouts' ? Is this not a song that can be sung by all supporters who follow Skelmersdale United and want to cheer the club onto victory regardless of age or sex. For some reason we have a committee (or part of a committee) that has decided that it doesnt like the song being sung in support yes SUPPORT of the club and would rather not listen to it. This is the same committee that seems to think that it is a good idea to alienate supporters who want to put money over the bar after the game. If this is a club that can manage without the hundreds of pounds that fans are prepared to spend in the club after games, then all they need to do is continue in the same manner. Not the soundest of moves if revenue is needed to keep the club running.

As Frank as said on the "other" Forum the commitee has been asked about the incident, non have any knowledge. If it is due to beer talk, then maybe someone has had 1 to many and a case of getting the wrong person. I know there are people who dont like the song, me I think its great. and just maybe it got on someones nerves a tad to much.
Again Frank has pointed out that if there are problems regarding this then please feel free to contact him.
As for closing the club after the game, Myself and 4 members of my family went into the bar after the game, I think Manure was on the box, there was about 20 in the club. We bought our drinks, sat down and was told the club would be shutting. I think if there are only a few in the bar after the game they should at least be invited into the "Other"room. Like the last poster said Money is money !!!!
Can I just point out that this was probably 18 mths ago and I have been informed that the club is now open after games on saturday.

I think you might be confused Kev. The big room when hired out is closed early on match days and people are invited into the other room. However, the club is closed between 7-8pm if there isn't a function on at all, because we simply can't afford to operate with just a few paying customers.

Paul Totally agree that the big room should be shut if there are only a few in there and glad that they get invited into the other side, makes financial sense,
what I was referring to was about 20 people plus some kids, everyone bought their beer and sat down to watch a match (This was about 5.15) Manure v somebody. only to be told we had to leave, wasnt asked into other room. there was no function on that night. If them 20 leave and don't come back, then that to me doesn't make financial sense or offer any goodwill, after all we want these people to come back.
I suppose its what you can call a few !!

Hi kev. In reply I've never known anyone to be asked to leave the function room at 5.15, for one committee and staff still to busy with after match duties and if for some reason anyone is asked to vacate the room then they will always be accomodated in the smaller room. If you know of any of the 20 or so people involved(or did you get the story secondhand) then please ask them to contact me and i will get to the bottom of it as we do value all our clients. on another point `diamand' posted that he would not meet with me face to face, i don't know who diamand was but be assured that if anyone wishes to speak to me about club matters face to face then i will meet with them and if they wish it to be kept private then i will respect their wishes. wishing you a speedy recovery.

Hi Kev. In light of our conversation of a coup[le of days ago I thought you might have posted what you explained to me about 20 or so people being refused entry to the small bar after a match, I tried to get to the bottom of this and after speaking to you, you explained to me that the incident took place approx. 2 years or so ago, i was a bit put out about this information as i explained to you that most people thought the post implied that it was a recent occurance, and if this did actually happen it was a regretable incident that i'm sure will be avoided at present and in the future. As Ihave said before if anybody has an issue relating to the club football or social then myself , Frank or any member of the management board can be approched to try to resolve that issue, we do try our best however we are by no means perfect and some things do get by us.
