Owd Skemmer (not "The Owd Skemmer", though it could be) goes into shop and approaches counter.

Wilko sorry but people who have been brought up in skem know that a Moggy is a mouse
as the saying goes when in Rome do as the Romans do its a Mouse (ha ha )
