Utd 2 Halifax 2
Action packed incedents galore in this promotoion chasing tussle, Halifax a big side, used to getting there own way were bullied themselves by a bouyant Utd, lead by skipper Michael White, they didnt give Halifax an inch. Honours were even for the first 30 mins until the away side were somewhat controversially awarded a penaly, much to the suprise of not only the travelling Halifax supporters but to the players themselves and only the referee Mr Cropp will know why the kick was awarded. Stev Payne duly despatched. It took Skem a little over 5 mins to regain a foothold in the game as a melee in the box broke to Adam Wade who duly despatched to level (42), within a minute Utd had their noses in front with a long range effort from Kyle Armstrong that zipped accross the turf and nestled in the bottom corner, Skem were dominant from then in and should have added more. In the second half it was all Halifax as they pushed for an equaliser keeping Skem on the back foot a save from McMahon and a clearing header from Foster kept the visitors at arms length. Skem made regular forays into the Halifax half and as Houghton got the better of his defender raced through on goal only to be upended, a case for more than a yellow, from the resultant kick Crowder hit the post and two excellent point blank reflex saves from Hedges, first from Armstrong then Wade kept Halifax in the game. A header cleared from under the post by Foster lead to the corner which was powered home by Halifaxs dangerman Dean (75 min)and it was 2-2 both teams then had half chances. The main discussion however followed the dismissal of Utds keeper McMahon, as Dean went in late the two squared up but it was the keeper got his marching orders whilst the attacked saw just yellow. The game somewhat bizare started with a goal kick, showing how far the ref at this stage had somewhat lost the plot. Crowder went in goal for the final 10 mins but wasnt tested as Skem fought a rear guard action. The 900+ Spectators from both sides will go home happy having witnessed a right ding dong battle and will have many opinions of some of the refereing decisions. Uniteds MoM Everyone earned their spurs today a real team effort but Armstrong just shades it for a goal and his outstanding work rate.

Firstly may i congratulate myself on predicting the correct score for todays game. I was looking forward to this game all week and it did not let me down, very action packed as kev says and full of incidents. A fair result in the end i thought and i thought skem completely outplayed them in the first half, was'nt sure if there defender should of been sent off because i did'nt think he was the last man. As for Mcmahon being sent off for butting Dean he hardly touched him, but such is the rules these days then i suppose the ref had no choice. On a lighter note did we employ two ste-wards today from Leigh Genises, you know the ones i mean , the two ste-wards stopping people from walking past the dugouts(jobsworths). no seriously why where they doing that today!

"swampy" it was done as a bit of over kill to be honest, just in case the official's had a really bad game to-wards Halifax town,it was to stop the Halifax fan getting to them as they went back to the changing rooms thats all!!!!!
it wasn't necessary at the end of the day,but thats why it was done!!!
