Skelmersdale United 1 Lancaster City 2
Disappointed, as Lancaster stole the three points.
Thought that Skem were in control of the game for the most part.
Stood next to a couple from Lancaster, who appealed for
everything in first half, then lambasted the 'liner' for not giving them
everything. I kid you not, some of the things they appealed for
But I guess the tactic worked, because the 'clown' on the open side,
from being timid and unable to make a decision in the first half,
became 'flag-happy' and controversial in the second.
Skem did have some good chances in the second half, and some
atrocious luck, as deflections found their way into the goalies arms.
Good positioning - I can hear the Lancaster bombheads say !!! mmmm.
Lancaster are a big strong side, and the left-winger was impressive in the first half. But they are nowhere near the best side in the league, and I
don't think that they'll get promoted.
I thought Skem lacked width, especially down the left side, and we
certainly missed Crowder for his attacking qualities.
Difficult to give a MOM - Houghton and Turner did well in second half,
with driving runs into the box, one of which could have resulted in a
penalty. Outside of the box, I am sure the ref would have given a
free-kick.
I do hope that officials start to improve soon - not particularly
referees, but liners who are totally incompetent and incapable of making
a decision without guidance from the ref.
