Comic relief came early to White Moss Park and it was Skem who were wearing the red noses and red faces as they were comprehensivley beaten by a mid table Fylde.Outplayed and out passed from the early exchanges it was a surprise that it took until the 38th min for the visitors to open their account, a back pass missed by McMahon let in Walwyn to score the easiest goal of the season, If the lad had shown the same composure as his father many moons ago He could have well have netted a hatrick prior to opening his account, It was 2 moments later as Booth crashed one in from all of 35 yards all Mcmahon could do was watch and admire. Skems answer to all this was to pump high balls forward, Kilbane and Doughty had the easiest day of the season as they dealt comfortably with it all.
Skem made two changes at half time and for a while were a match for Fylde without really creating much of an opening but as Skem pressed Walwyn again found space and put the game to bed mid way through the second half. After all the mid week hype and adulation from the Bamber Bridge game this was Skems turn to be put to the sword, and as Walwyn netted his deserved hatrick a few minutes before time the home fans were quickly leaving the stadium. Turner, who was far and away the best Skem player on scored a consolation goal in injury time but it was all Skem deserved.
Automatic promotion on this form looks to be out of the window and any more performances like this and the play offs might just prove to far.
Fylde easily deserved their win and Skem could have no complaints if the score was doubled.
Mike Duffy has alledgedly left the club, after this performance I hope he and the management have a change of heart.
It was also a day that Adam Birchall was sorely missed
