Re. Amateur Cup. Kev, I vaguely remember Skem playing a Cup match in the 60's where Ted Ravenhill got a pile of goals. I know your records show Skem scoring 8 goals against Old Blackburninians, but I think we also got 5 or 6 around that time against (I think) Ainsdale, on the present cricket ground. Any idea ?? Maybe TRBJ could confirm.

Wilko Didn't we lose the replay after the first game at Bury was a draw?Don't know where the replay was though I think that Darwen won the toss for the replay, and we went up to their place. Seem to remember it peeing down, and when the ref came to blow his whistle to start the game, the marking string that the groundsman used to do the white line across the centre of the pitch had not been removed and the players nearly tripped over it.

DARWEN game Thursday 5th May 1983 , League Cup Final tie at Gigg Lane.
THERE WAS A REPLAY
The following thursday at Darwen
although the set up seems a little bit odd to say the least, as in the replay program notes the Darwen chairman states
"The cup will be won tonight, if the score is 0-0 after Extra time, penalties will decide. If the result is a score draw then Skem will be deemed winners as away goals count double"
Anyone got any ideas on that scenario ? first game 0-0 ?
The Skem team for the first game in the program lists Moyster, McCabe, Thompson, Phil Warrilow, Higham, Phelan, Ball, Roache, Dooley, Alex Blakeman, Freeman, Sub Gannon or McMurray.
